　　Main Uses

　　Industrial Field

　　Solvent: Used to dissolve rubber, resins, oils, waxes, phosphorus, sulfur, etc. It is an important solvent for dissolving raw rubber in the rubber industry and is also used to manufacture viscose fiber (dissolving cellulose xanthate).

　　Chemical Raw Material: Used in the production of carbon tetrachloride, dithiocarbamates (such as thiram, a fungicide), thiocyanates, etc. It is also a polymerization regulator for synthetic rubber (such as styrene-butadiene rubber).

　　Extractant: Used to extract rare metals (such as gold, silver) in the metallurgical industry or to separate aromatic hydrocarbons from petroleum.

　　Agricultural Field

　　As a fumigant, it is used to kill pests in grains and seeds (such as rice weevils, grain moths) and nematodes in soil. However, its toxicity limits its scope of use, and it is currently being gradually replaced by low-toxicity agents.

　　Used to prepare pesticide intermediates, such as insecticides and fungicides.

　　Other Uses

　　Used in the production of high-purity silicon raw materials for the electronics industry, or as a fuel additive to improve combustion efficiency (less common).

　　Used as a non-polar solvent in laboratories for organic synthesis reactions or the separation and purification of substances.
